Meet the Team

We are proud of our professional, friendly team at Coxeys and here is a brief intro to just some of them.

Michael Coxey FCA – Managing Director
Michael joined the business in 1974 and is our Managing Director. He is genuinely interested in, and as a result has a good rapport with Clients, many of whom he has known for a very long time! And it is why he enjoys the business advisor element of his role. His favourite place is Portugal for the weather and people, where he would be very happy sitting in the sun with steak, a glass of red wine and good company (and maybe knowing he’s some golf booked). He says the best thing about his job is the boss – So modest!

Peter Mc Veigh FCA – Director
Peter joined Coxeys in 1986 from one of the largest audit companies in the UK. He likes being out and about on external audits and he really understands clients and their businesses and builds strong relationships. With many years experience Peter can advise on almost any area and with this broad experience he was the face Captain Crunch Buster column in the Wrexham Leader before Anthony took over in 2011. His favourite colour is the royal blue of his beloved Everton and his favourite holiday was his honeymoon – a romantic at heart!

Anthony Lewis FCCA – Director
Anthony joined Coxeys in 1998. Heads up the Accounts and Audits team. He has his eye on the future and succession planning to ensure Coxeys continue to offer the best service for clients. He is an ‘all rounder’ which is why he is now the face of ‘Captain Crunch Buster’ the weekly advice column in the Wrexham Leader, which handles all sorts of questions on general business matters. Clients say he is very approachable and good at answering questions so he is ‘just the man’ for the job. Outside of work he enjoys being with his wife and two young boys, so no surprises that his favourite holiday destination is Center Parcs.

Morag Browning LLB – Director
Morag came to Coxeys in 1989 and heads up our Tax Department. She has strong relationships with clients and really loves to get her ‘teeth in something’ to make sure she can give the best money saving advice. She says the best thing about her job is “winning”, which says it all! And her funniest ‘work’ story is when a friend in the tax office fell into a slurry pit on holiday and had to walk a long way back to the hotel as driver wouldn’t let him in car! When she’s not at work one of her pastimes is DIY, though not for herself, for her son Donald!

Frank McAleavy FCA – Director
We merged with McAleavy & Co. in 2009. Frank who qualified FCA in 1972 and his team share our client care values and Frank has a good relationship with clients and gets great satisfaction from assisting businesses to prosper and expand to reach their full potential. He is a keen Bridge player and loves to travel. Whether to Rome and Prague, where he never tires of walking around as there is so much to see, or to more distant destinations like Zambia and Botswana.

Amy Bell FCCA – Associate
Amy joined us in 2013 and quickly rose to the position of Associate. Amy, who qualified as FCCA in 2007 enjoys the diversity of the clients she meets. Outside of work Amy enjoys watching live music and attending stand up comedy gigs (in the audience only!). Amy's favourite place is Lincoln as this is where her daughter was born

Joanne Evans FCCA – Associate
Joanne joined us in 2013 and also rose to the position of Associate in 2014. Joanne qualified as FCCA in 2001. She enjoys meeting new people and until recently played in a Brass Band at Glyndwr University. She says her favourite place is being at home with her husband and two children and her favourite holiday was an 18-30's Ibiza holiday as she was young enough to qualify!!

Laura Watkins – Tax and Practice Management
Laura joined us in 2002. She came for a month after university and never left! She likes teamwork and forms good relationships. She has a busy role with tax, as well as Marketing & PR and Staff Development and Training. So she was delighted when we were the first accountants in Wales to gain Gold IIP status. With her History degree, she is interested in Geneology when she’s not at work and her favourite holiday was to Skye where amazingly it didn’t rain at all.

Helen Mort – MAAT – Business Essentials Manager
Helen joined us in 2004 and now heads up our Business Essentials team. She was instrumental in setting Business Essentials up as a flexible cost effective option for clients looking for someone to ‘do it all’ or those who want to train for self-sufficiency. She is passionate about training both clients and for herself and has level 5 Diploma in Management. She says the best thing about her job is the flexibility and being able to balance work and home – Especially as she is a busy mum of two. Her favourite holiday was to Rhodes where her husband proposed!

Sue Barkley – Business Essentials Deputy Manager
Sue joined us in 2007 and says the best thing about her role is the variety in her work and her colleagues. She says her favourite place is relaxing at home and that her favourite holiday was a canal holiday in France in 1984 when her husband proposed to her.
